Boy birthday cake
Birthday Boy requested blue, tools, and sprinkles. This was my first time transferring a pattern onto the cake, and I look forward to more chances to practice!
S'mores cupcakes
Why wait for the next campfire? Chocolate fudge cake with a graham cracker layer, marshmallow cream frosting, and of course a square of Hershey's to top it off. S'more, please! Thanks to the "Our Best Bites" cookbook for the idea.

Rose cake
For my sister-in-law's birthday, I tried doing just a single row of roses on the side of this cake for an elegant look. This is a double layer 8-inch cake, as are most of the cakes I've made thus far.
Clock cake - it's time to party!
For a clock-loving 2 year old's birthday, I made my first foray into fondant. It's fun but definitely challenging to get it just right! I need to practice my number piping, too.
Chicago Blackhawks cake
For a friend's birthday, I tried my hand at doing a "run-out" with thinned buttercream instead of royal icing. Go Hawks!
Baby shower triple-layer ruffle cake
With candy pearls, chocolate and yellow cake layers, fudge and Reese's peanut butter cup filling, and sweet meringue buttercream, I had to stop myself from stealing a slice! This is technically a ruffle cake, but I just want to call it a tutu :)
My birthday cake
Yup, I was happy to use my own birthday as an excuse to practice cake decorating and buy myself a few new supplies!
I also made rose swirl cupcakes for the kiddies. Survey says, success!
Rose smash cake
This is a double layer 6 inch cake. I heard the first birthday girl was green from head to toe by the end of the photo shoot! You just can't resist devil's food with buttercream meringue frosting.
